Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau marked with red-colored liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Police say early analysis show the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him without words and required to be addressed rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
