The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
